How to clean limestone flooring

How to clean limestone flooring… Limestone is a natural organic sedimentary rock formed from the remains of tiny shells and micro-skeletons deposited on the seabed then compressed to form solid rocks. Fossils are often seen embedded in the stone. As this stone is porous, limestone floor tiles need to be sealed and regularly re-sealed.

Limestone is usually creamy white in colour, but natural impurities in the rock such as iron oxide can colour it.

The texture of limestone can be fine to coarse and is much softer than the igneous stone such as marble, it is more prone to wear.

Furthermore, limestone is sensitive to high alkalinity therefore cleaning solutions should be neutral.

If you have limestone flooring in your home and wish for this to be professionally cleaned and sealed, please contact us to arrange your booking.
