PVC (Vinyl) Semi-Flexible Tile or Flexible flooring Sheet
PVC (Vinyl) Semi-Flexible Tile or Flexible flooring Sheet is split into two categories:
- Semi-flexible tiles
- Flexible flooring
Vinyl Semi-flexible tiles
Vinyl tiles are made from a material prepared by masticating and calendering a mixture of polymeric binder mineral fillers and pigments. The binder consists mainly of polymerized vinyl chloride, a vinyl chloride copolymer or a mixture of these together with a plasticizer and stabilizer (phew). These are also known as Amtico & Karndean (brand names) though lots more other companies now manufacture LVT – Luxury Vinyl Tile.
Vinyl Flexible flooring
Vinyl flexible flooring is manufactured in sheet and tile form from a plasticised polymeric binder, inorganic fillers and pigments. The polymeric binder is either a vinyl chloride polymer, a vinyl chloride copolymer or a mixture of both. It is available in several forms, as homogeneous or heterogeneous flooring with or without backing.
When I think of vinyl flexible flooring; this is commonly used in UK bathrooms and kitchens as an inexpensive floor covering.
