How to clean quarry tiles
How to clean quarry tiles… Easily recognisable by their red to reddish-brown colours in the standard 6″ square. Quarry tiles are made from clay which is kiln fired.
Quarry tiles are normally laid on a cement bed and grouted with a cement mortar to which should be added a waterproofing agent.
Tiles laid without a damp proof membrane or grout which has not been waterproofed are susceptible to ‘whitening’ from efflorescence rising through the grout. Quarry tiles are not normally sealed but do look better with a seal/protector applied to give them a nice clean shine.
